PRINTBreeding/Development: USA. One of the classic “C” hops of American craft beer, many acres in Oregon and Washington are under Centennial. Bred in 1974 and released in 1990, its complex parentage includes Brewers Gold, Fuggle, and East Kent Goldings.
Brewing Application: Enriched Hop Pellets can be used anywhere T-90 pellets would be incorporated, but are ideal for aroma, whirlpool and dry hop additions. Due to the higher concentration of acids and oils in enriched pellets, hop charges in many recipes can be reduced by approximately 50% vs. T-90 pellets or whole hop cones. We recommend conducting trials to determine the optimal usage rate for your formulation.
Applicable Styles: Predominantly citrus but undertones of lemongrass and pine needles are often evident. The citrus character can be reminiscent of Cascade (grapefruit), the variety it’s most often compared to. Excellent in all styles of American IPAs, pale ales, stouts, and porters; also welcome at lower intensities in American-style wheat and blonde ales.
